Metro Detroit kids are all abuzz, anticipating the most exciting night of the season: Halloween!  In efforts to prevent cavities and lend a helping hand, we would like to invite you and your family and friends to share your sweets with the soldiers fighting for our country overseas.  This November, we will be holding our First Annual Halloween Candy Buy-Back Event at Orchard Maple Family Dental.

Kids can bring in their unopened Halloween candy and we will buy it back for $1 per pound.  There will be a five pound maximum per person.  Your child must be present, and must bring or write a thank you card at our office for our troops in order to receive the cash.  Each person who donates his or her candy will also receive healthy snacks, new toothbrushes, oral health tips, and a prize from the toy box in addition to the $1 for each pound of unopened candy.  You will also be automatically entered in a drawing to win a one year Quality Dental Plan membership!

CANDY DROP-OFF HOURS:

Thursday, November 1: 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Friday, November 2: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Saturday, November 3: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 pm.

The collected candy will be shipped to Operation Gratitude, who then ships it overseas to our troops.

We want to reassure you that we do care about the oral health of not only the children in our area, but the adults who are courageously serving the US in hostile countries.

We have chosen Operation Gratitude as the organization that we go through to recognize our appreciation for our country’s soldiers. The care packages that Operation Gratitude assembles fit into a 12″ x 12″ x 5″ box. This box could probably hold 3-5 lbs of candy.  The packages, however, are not made entirely of candy.  The care packages include other things such as DVDs, stuffed animals, stacks of greeting cards, socks, scarves, CDs, and more.  We would estimate that none of the packages contain more than 2 lbs of candy.  In most cases, we’re distributing the candy from one child to multiple service members.   We look forward to seeing you with your candy!
